Decks

Services Offered:

Power Washing

Sealing

Staining

Proper maintenance of your deck can protect your deck and keep the deck boards from warping, splitting, and splintering, saving you many in the long run.

We are one of the Top Rated deck maintenance companies on Angie’s List.

We offer deck cleaning, sealing, and staining.  When we Power Wash a deck we do not use pressure greater than 1000 psi, nor do we use bleach to clean.  High pressure washing, and bleach ruin the wood grain, and prevent deck treatments such as wood protectors, and stains from properly adhering to the wood.

Power Washing includes sweeping of deck boards prior to treatment.  Spraying wood with a Wood Brightener, Conditioner, and Cleaner.  This will remove Mold, and Stains from the wood surface.  Scrubbing of problem areas is used to work the solution into the wood to help remove those problem stains.  Then the wood is Power Washed with 1000 psi, removing the Pre-Treatment solution, along with the loosened Mold, Grease, and Dirt.

Sealing of Decks includes spraying the wood with a Wood Prep.  The wood Prep prepares the wood for the Wood Sealer, and removes loose wood fibers.  Then Power Washing the wood.  Waiting 48 hours for the Wood to dry, then application of the Deck Sealant.  For most surfaces the Sealant is applied with a brush only, but on Lattices, and Railings the Sealant is applied with a sprayer, then back brushed to work the sealant into the wood.

Staining of Decks includes spraying the wood with a Wood Prep.  The wood Prep prepares the wood for the Wood Stain, and removes loose wood fibers.  Then Power Washing the wood.  Waiting 48 hours for the Wood to dry, then application of the Deck Stain.  For most surfaces the Stain is applied with a brush only, but on Lattices, and Railings the Stain is applied with a sprayer, then back brushed to work the stain into the wood.

Some decks will require additional prep if you want to remove the stain or sealant and apply a lighter shade of stain, sealant, or return to the natural color of the wood.  Also if a deck has been neglected boards may need to be sanded, or replaced.

Decks that are in poor condition, can be saved with one of the two deck repair products on the market today. Deck Restore is a thick solid color stain, filling in those damaged deck boards, and is used on deck boards that are in poor shape. DeckOver is also a thick solid color stain filling in those damaged deck boards, and used on deck boards that are in poor shape. Restore does a better job filling in damaged areas, but does have a rough texture to it. Both are more expensive than normal deck sealing products, but both last twice as long as other solid color stains. Allowing you to get more years of use out of your deck.

Products:

Wood Sealants & Waterproofers

Stains- Semi-Transparent & Solid

Where to use what product?

Wood Sealants, and Waterproofers are used when you wish to have the wood have a natural look, but still be protected from the environment.  Most Waterproofers must be applied every year on horizontal surfaces, and every other year on vertical surfaces.

Stains are used when you want to have color added to your wood or wish for longer protection.  Semi-Transparent stains still let some of the natural wood grain show through, but bring the tone of the wood to the color chosen.  Solid stains cover most of the wood grain, looking a lot like painted wood, but still allowing for the wood to look like wood.  Stains offer longer protection than Waterproofers.  Semi-Transparent are good for 2-3 years on horizontal surface, and 3-5 years on vertical surfaces.  Solid stains are good for 3-5 years on horizontal surface, and 5-8 years on vertical surfaces.

Proper maintenance of your deck can protect your deck and keep the deck boards from warping, splitting, and splintering, saving you many in the long run.
